The West St. Paul City Council has approved the first reading of an ordinance to protect LGBTQ+ youth from conversion therapy. Now, the proposal awaits a second reading and public hearing, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Minnesota has no state law protecting people from efforts to change sexual orientation or gender identity. But four cities in the state have passed measures protecting minors from harmful treatment by licensed therapists, as of August 2020.
