Barclays Bank Closes Accounts of UK Conversion Therapy Group

Core Issues Trust (CIT), based in Northern Ireland, says Barclays Bank is the latest of several companies to stop doing business with the conversion therapy advocacy group. The other companies include Mailchimp and PayPal; Facebook and Instagram allegedly removed content from CIT’s pages.

Forbes credits Mike Buonaiuto of Shape History, a social impact communications agency, for Barclays’ action, after Buonaiuto tweeted that Barclay’s was enabling donations of over £100,000 per year.

Born Perfect is a survivor-led program created by the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) in 2014 to end conversion therapy by passing laws across the country that protect LGBTQ children and young people, fighting in courtrooms to ensure their safety, and raising awareness about the serious harms caused by these dangerous practices.
